I smoke. I said it. I'm so horrible. What a hypocrite I am, talking about working out and living strong when in reality, I smoke. I have a habit that kills innocent people. Well, I'm ready to quit. Smoking is no longer sexy, glamorous or fun. I feel guilty every time I take a puff, I really do.
Now I have the ultimate reason to quit!!! Aside from being pregnant I guess.
Here are some of my reasons to quit:
1. I don't want to get cancer. Although, I may have already done enough damage to where cancer in my future is inevitable. This makes me sad.
2. It's a condition of my job that I don't smoke. That's right, I hide it.
3. It's not cheap.
4. My life insurance premiums WILL go down if I can stay smoke-free for at least 1 year.
5. I'd like to have children one day so I should save whatever eggs I have left.
6. I don't want more wrinkles than I already have.
7. I will run faster and stronger.
8. I can run the marathon for Leukemia and cancer prevention without being a raging hypocrite.
Bye bye Smoker 10years:
Please help keep me accountable. Feel free to give me more reasons to quit and remain smoke free!
LIVE STRONG.
God this post felt good.

Additional Reasons Not to Smoke:
(1) You stink.
(2) You harm other people's health.
(3) You put yourself in a lot of danger if you are on The Pill.
(4) You look ugly when you smoke.
(5) I hate smokers.
Did I help? ;)
Seriously, though, good luck with this! I will be rooting for you!
I am SO proud of you!!! Call me instead when you get those cravings and we'll get through it. You did it before, you can do it again! Love you long time!
Okay seriously the first time I read this post I thought you were cryptically saying you were pregnant ;)
Anyway, truly I do applaud you for making a drastic change in ur life that will not only make you healthier but also the people ( and pets ) in your life healthier and at less risk...you have a long hard road ahead of you and I wish you MUCH success! GO D!!!
God you guys made me cry. Thamks so much!!
Can we not hang out during your "transitional" period?
hahaha, jk! I know you can totally do this. You did it before, and stayed super strong for months, so I know you can do it again. Just think, WWLD?
Dude! I almost choked on my Raisin Bran!!!! I thought you were saying you WERE PG!
Anyhow....IT'S ABOUT FREAKIN' TIME!!!!!
Good luck, because from my exp. with Brian, your gonna need it. :)
You know another reason not to smoke right? Your friend Kate hates it and you hate when she hassles you about it. She's such a wet blanket.
weemo pretty much summed it up girl. seriously, i am so glad you are giving it up. lots of luck to you and know if i ever see you try to light up, i'll come unglued --- and that ain't pretty ;)
whoa...imagining amber unglued. just. whoa.
anyway, yay for the decision! i kinda sorta helped a former roommate quit. 3 times. i am not much help, but props, and i'm sure you can do it! you've got crazy willpower as displayed in your fitness/marathon regimen.
i'm sure sophie will appreciate it, too. :)
I smoked for years, starting in high school. I quit 7 months ago and haven't had any since then. My advice to help you is to look seriously at all the habits you have developed that support your smoking habit. For example, I would always drink a ton of Dr. Pepper to get the taste of the cigarette out of my mouth. In order to quit smoking, I also cut way down on my Dr. Pepper consumption. It really helped. Confessing to others that I wanted a cigarette helped with quitting too, because then they would urge me against it and help hold me accountable. Good luck to you - it's a hard road but it's so worth it.

I don't even have words to say how proud I am of you.
Here's a toast to a healthy athlete Diane.
just think of how much faster you'll be running now with clear lungs!!
Yay! This is such an awesome thing to do.
Congrats on this.
Disgusting smoking + beautiful 10YT = not a good combo.
Good luck!
Good for you!! You will never regret quitting, i promise, you will feel SO much better every day you are smoke free. (i quit 2.5 yrs ago and have never felt better) I don't know you - but I am SO proud of you! Congrats! You can do it!
D, you can do it. If I can help in any way, just let me know. I'm really proud of you for confessing and taking the next step. We should all be that honest and strong.
More reasons--
1. You want to be around to hold your grandkids someday.
2. There's no good reason to push yourself to the "in sickness" part of the vows. I'm sure Mr.10 would prefer to have you in health and for a long time to come.
3. Being a hypocrite is the worst and you are better than that! ;)
4. We can have little parties and GTGs to celebrate your days of being smoke free. 30 days, 100 days, 180 days, one year...you get the picture.
Did I mention that you can do it and I'm proud of you?
Good Shit D! Now we can have a conversation w/o you taking a puff every minute! BTW, i'm a great photographer. I always get the good stuff
Thank you so much for your support ladies - it means a lot to me.
